NIA court issues proclamation notice against Khalistan Zindabad Chief Ranjit Singh Neeta

The accused, who’s allegedly involved in several train and bus blasts, has been asked to surrender within 30 days.

A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Mohali has issued a proclamation notice against Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) chief Ranjit Singh Neeta. Neeta has been given 30 days to surrender.

The notice, issued by NIA court, reads, "A complaint has been lodged that Ranjeet Singh Neeta, son of Darshan Singh, resident of Jammu, has committed the offence under the above said case and warrant has been issued, while Neeta cannot be found.”

Noting that Neeta is absconding, he has been directed to appear before the NIA court in Mohali. "To answer the said complaint till 14.09.2023 or within 30 days from the date of publication of such proclamation. Report of the NIA in respect of the publication is awaited for 14.09.2023," the notice added.

Notices have been posted in the Simbal area of Jammu against Neeta. Neeta, who hails from Jammu, is reportedly based in Pakistan.

Neeta’s name is embroiled in various acts of terror. These include the bomb explosion in Jhelum Express near Ambala in December 1996 and bomb explosions in two buses in Pathankot in April and June, 1997, killing or injuring a number of bus passengers. Neeta is also allegedly involved in the bomb explosion in Shalimar Express in June 1998, explosion in Pooja Express near Pathankot in November 1999, killing 14 persons and causing injuries to 42 others, explosion in Sealdah Express in February 2000, in which five persons were killed and four were injured. The explosion in Kailash Guest House, Paharganj, Delhi, in February 2000, in which eight persons were injured, is also said to be the doing of Neeta.

His name is also involved in the explosion in a bus near village Samastipur, in which seven persons were killed and 24 were injured. Besides, Neeta is said to be involved in the IED explosion in a bus in Fatehgarh Sahib on March 3, 2000, in which eight persons were killed and eight others were injured. Neeta’s name also crops up in the explosion at Jammu Railway Station in June 2001, in which one person was killed and 48 persons sustained injuries, and IED explosion at ISBT Chandigarh in September 2005, in which seven persons sustained injuries.

Neeta was also allegedly involved in the attack on Rashtriya Sikh Sangat chief Rulda Singh at Patiala in July 2009, who later succumbed to his injuries. His name is also involved in the attack on Sant Ramanand and Sant Niranjan Das of Dera Sachkhand Ballan (Jalandhar) at a gurudwara in Vienna, Austria, in May 2009, killing Sant Ramanand and seriously injuring Sant Niranjan Das.
