Travel Time Between Delhi and Dehradun to Come Down to 2.5 Hours Soon | Check Details
The remaining work of the Delhi-Dehradun expressway project, being carried out by the NHAI, is expected to be over within next three-four months.
New Delhi: In a mega relief to commuters, the New Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will be thrown open for traffic by December this year. With the opening of this highly anticipated project, the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun will be reduced to just 2.5 hours. Currently it takes around 5 hors to reach Dehradun from Delhi.
The remaining work of the Delhi-Dehradun expressway project, being carried out by the NHAI, is expected to be over within next three-four months. However, the link connecting the expressway to Haridwar only will be ready by May 2025. Notably, the access-controlled link from the expressway to Haridwar was a later addition to the project to further enhanc road connectivity.
Expressway to Reduce Traffic Congestion in Delhi
Further, the first leg of the highway, spanning from Akshardham to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) section, will be operational by November this year. This opening of the expressway will further alleviate traffic congestion in the city and enhance commuters convenience.
32-kilometer Long Delhi-EPE Stretch
The expressway will facilitate seamless travel experience to commuters in both the national capital and Uttar Pradesh due to several entry and exit points that it will offer. The 32-kilometer long Delhi-EPE stretch will have an impressive 19-kilometre elevated roadway for through traffic, while the six-lane service road below will accommodate local traffic.
The highway will have seven entry points for Uttar Pradesh-bound traffic moving from Delhi at Akshardham, Geeta Colony, Shamshan Ghat (Kailash Nagar), Sonia Vihar, Vijay Vihar, and Mandola wile exit points will be available at Khajuri Chowk, Sonia Vihar, Vijay Vihar, and Mandola.
Meanwhile, for Delhi-bound traffic from UP, entry points will be available at Mandola, Vijay Vihar, and 5th Pusta, with exits at Mandola, Loni, Vijay Vihar, Usmanpur, Shamshan Ghat (Kailash Nagar), Geeta Colony, and Akshardham.
In a major relief, commuters entering and exiting the expressway in Delhi will not be required to pay tolls.
