New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has proposed a new metro line to enhance connectivity between North-East Delhi and the Trans Hindon area in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. This extension of the Pink Line aims to address the high population density in North-East Delhi and improve overall connectivity.
Proposal Overview:
- Route: The proposed metro line will extend from the existing Gokalpuri Metro Station on the Pink Line to Arthala in Ghaziabad. Key stops will include Dilshad Garden Extension-2, DLF, and Hindon Airport.
- Length: The new corridor is expected to be about 13 km long and will feature more than 10 stations.
- Current Metro Lines:
- Pink Line: Currently runs between Shiv Vihar and Majlis Park.
- Red Line: Runs from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda, spanning approximately 9.5 km.
- Blue Line: Connects Anand Vihar to Vaishali, approximately 2 km.

- Delhi: Gokalpuri, Dilshad Garden Extension-2, DLF.
- Ghaziabad: Loni Gol Chakkar, Shalimar Garden, Hindon Airport, Bhopura, Tulsi Niketan, Rajendra Nagar, Hindon Air Force Station, New Karhaira Colony, Karhaira, and Loni Road Industrial Area.
Impact and Benefits:
- Improved Connectivity: The proposed Pink Line extension will bridge the Red Line with the under-construction Pink Line, offering seamless travel from Ghaziabad to various parts of Delhi.
- Enhanced Travel: Residents of Ghaziabad will gain direct metro access to South Delhi, including locations such as North-East Delhi, East Delhi, Mayur Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Ashram, Lajpat Nagar, South Extension, Sarojini Nagar, Bhikaji Cama Place, Delhi Cantt, Rajouri Garden, Punjabi Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, Azadpur, and Majlis Park.
Next Steps:
- Approval and Survey: The DMRC has submitted the proposal to the central, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh governments. Pending approval, a survey and other formalities will be conducted.
This extension is expected to significantly enhance travel efficiency and connectivity for residents of both Delhi and Ghaziabad.
