Dehradun: The bodies of a taxi driver and his alleged lover were found inside a car on Monday in Dehradun.
The police have begun an investigation as the cause of death remains unknown, and nothing suspicious was found at the scene.
The victims were identified as Rajesh Sahu (50) and Maheshwari Devi (45), according to the police.
The car, with the two bodies inside, was discovered on Nagal Wali Road behind the Sahastradhara helipad, in the Rajpur police station area. Reports indicate that the engine and air conditioner were still running when the car was found.
Upon receiving information, a team from the local police station arrived at the scene, where it was discovered that both Sahu and Devi were intoxicated.
The car was owned by Sahu, who drove it as a taxi. Devi, his alleged lover, was a widow, a police official said.
A forensic team inspected the site but did not find anything suspicious. The victims' families have also not suspected any foul play in the incident.
Further investigation is ongoing. However, prima facie, it appears that both individuals died after consuming excessive alcohol. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report is received, a police official said.
