UPSC Success Story: India's most prestigious exam, the Civil Services Exam (CSE) administered by UPSC, is undoubtedly not for everyone. Becoming a civil servant requires years of sacrifice, a great deal of patience, and many failures. Today, we'll talk about IAS Surabhi Gautam, a student of Hindi-Medium school who was once made fun of for having terrible English. She shut down her trolls and aced the UPSC CSE exam with an amazing AIR-50 thanks to her diligence and perseverance.
Surabhi Gautam: A Gold Medalist
Surabhi, a Madhya Pradesh native, went to a government school in her area that was primarily in Hindi and lacked many necessities. Her father, a lawyer, and mother, a teacher, supported her in her academic endeavors and assisted her in realizing her goals. She achieved an outstanding 93.4% in her Class 10 board exams, earning a perfect 100 in math and science. She continued on to Bhopal to pursue her engineering degree in electronics and communications after completing her 12th grade education. She received the gold medal from her college for her exceptional result, and she was ranked top in the university.
Left Several Jobs for IAS
Surabhi worked at BARC as a nuclear physicist for a year following her graduation. Fascinatingly, prior to sitting the UPSC CSE exam, she had passed numerous exams, including GATE, ISRO, SAIL, MPPSC PCS, SSC CGL, Delhi Police, and Foreign Computer Institute. Furthermore, on the 2013 IES exam, she scored an outstanding AIR-1. She made a collective effort to enhance her English language skills and ultimately chose to become an IAS officer. She chose to give her mischievous trolls back with her accomplishments, even though she was frequently made fun of for her bad English at school and college.
Surabhi eventually passed the IAS exam in 2016 with an AIR-50, making her an IAS officer. She is currently employed as the Assistant Collector and District Development Officer in the Ahmedabad district of Viramgam.
