New Delhi: Senior advocate and former Attorney General of India, Mukul Rohatgi on Monday said that the state administration including the police tried to completely cover-up the rape and murder case of trainee Kolkata doctor at the RG Kar Hospital. The senior advocate added he was happy that the Supreme Court will hear the matter on Tuesday (tomorrow).
Speaking to Republic TV's Managing Director and Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami, Mukul Rohatgi said that it's a case of an active coverup.
"From whatever I have read and scene, it's clear to me that this is a case of a gangrape in a hospital, there are injuries to the private parts."
“How can somebody call it a suicide? It's impromptus," said former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi.

“It involves large number of perpetrators, What's the role of the principal or the dean, why was it hushed up,” he asked.
After a few days, we see a rampage by goons on the premises of the RG Kar Hospital to destroy the proofs, he mentioned.

“What was the police doing on the day this rampage occurred? How can thousands of goons come and do rampage in the hospital. The police and hospital authorities need to answer this,” said Mukul Rohatgi.
The senior advocate further asked, “Why was there no room for doctors to rest and sleep? It's completely unacceptable.”
“It's not just a case of complicity and negligence by the police, but of a complete cover-up. Why the police chief has not answered on hospital rampage and why there was a heist cremation,” the senior advocate asked.
SC takes suo motu cognisance in Kolkata rape-murder case
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear as the first matter on Tuesday (today) a suo motu case related to the rape and murder of a postgraduate medic at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata amid the ongoing nationwide doctors' strike over it.
A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, which had taken cognisance of the incident, has kept the matter on top of the cause list for hearing at 10:30 am on Tuesday.
The suo motu cognisance of the case, titled "In Re: Alleged rape and murder incident of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, and related issue", assumes significance in view of the fact that Calcutta High Court is already in action and has transferred the probe into the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The top court may widen the spectrum of judicial scrutiny, keeping in mind the ongoing nationwide protests, especially by the doctors, and their concerns.
Doctors' bodies the Federation of Association of Medical Consultants of India (FAMCI) and the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA), and lawyer Vishal Tiwari have also moved the top court by filing interim applications in the suo motu case.
