Frog Wedding in UP's Varanasi Goes Viral, 'Hopes of Appeasing the Rain Gods' | WATCH

Varanasi/Viral News: Amid a sweltering heatwave in North India, a viral video of ‘Frog Wedding’ is taking the internet by storm, leaving netizens in disbelief.

The viral video of a male and a female frog being married was shared on social media X on June 13. 

The viral video also comes with an interesting caption that says, ‘A wedding like no other Locals in Varanasi, UP arranged a “wedding” between a male and a female frog, in hopes of appeasing the rain gods and getting respite from the heat. We can’t be sure if it works, but it makes for a whimsical tale for sure.’

According to the viral post, the wedding of frogs took place in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, in hopes for rain and getting respite from the heat.

Viral video captures the entire wedding ceremony of frogs with complete Hindu rituals and customs. A priest can also be seen in the viral frog wedding video, who arranged a “wedding” between a male and a female frog along with others who observed the wedding and took part in performing puja rituals.

The wedding ceremony is believed to be a prayer to the Gods for rain, as croaking frogs are traditionally connected with the arrival of rain. 

This is not the first incident of its kind. A few months ago, a family performed puja rituals at home with a live cobra snake for good luck and prosperity, the video of which went viral on social media.

Like no other locals in Varanasi, UP arranged a “wedding” between a male and a female frog in hopes of appeasing the rain gods and getting rid of scorching heat. We can’t be sure if it works or not, but it surely makes for an offbeat headline.
