Good News For Delhi-NCR: New Highway to Link Okhla Barrage-Yamuna Expressway Soon

New Delhi: In a major relief to commuters in the Delhi-NCR, a new highway has been planned to connect the Okhla Barrage and the Yamuna Expressway. This proposed project which is likely to come up via the Hindon-Yamuna Doab, is expected to decongest the traffic in the NCR region.

The project will significantly reduce traffic burden on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

According to the reports, the proposed highway will have a 6-lane elevated or 8-lane ground-level expressway, futher improving traffic flow and reducing pollution.

Meanwhile, the the Noida Authority has submitted a proposal to the Principal Secretary of Uttar Pradesh’s Public Works Department on September 18, in order to get the National Highway recognition for the route.

Once the highway receives the nod for recognition as an NH, additional steps will be required before the project can commence. Development on the new route will commence thereafter.

The highway will not only ease the traffic congestion on a particular route but will also meet the growing traffic demands. It is also a significant step in the direction of protecting the environment and curbing air pollution.
