Gurugram Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Defrauding Thousands in Astrology Scam

The Gurugram police have apprehended a man suspected of swindling hundreds of people across the nation out of over Rs 36 lakh, under the guise of providing online astrology consultations, authorities revealed on Monday.

The accused, identified as Raj Kumar, hails from Ganeri village in the Sikar district of Rajasthan. According to police, Kumar deceived victims by promising online astrology services. Once the victims transferred the required funds, Kumar would block them, leaving them unable to retrieve their money, said Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber, Priyanshu Dewan.

"A total of 50 complaints and 8 cases are lodged against the accused across the country. Of these, one case is registered in Gurugram," Dewan said.

In the course of the investigation, police recovered Rs 15,000 in cash and a SIM card from Kumar's possession. It was revealed that Kumar had defrauded individuals across India of a total of Rs 36.11 lakh, Dewan added. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to probe the extent of Kumar’s fraudulent activities.
