Chandigarh: As voting for the Haryana Assembly elections concluded on October 5, 2024, recording 67.9 per cent voter turnout across 90 assembly constituencies, all eyes are on the possible outcomes on October 8. The counting of the votes for the Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) assembly elections will take place on Tuesday, further revealing the party mandated by the people to form the new government in the state and the Union Territory.

In Haryana , the current Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, is seeking re-election, and his party, the BJP , is hoping to secure a historic third consecutive term in the state. However, the Congress party, led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are also in the running, making it a tight contest. The Exit Polls have also given the Congress party, an edge over the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, in Haryana .

Stakes Are High For Major Parties In Haryana

A total of 1,031 candidates contested in all 90 assembly constituencies, whose fate is locked in the EVMs. The voter turnout has been recorded at 67.9 per cent, with Ellenabad topping the charts at 80.61 per cent and Badkhal having the lowest turnout at 48.27 percent. Now all eyes are on October 8.

The key issues in this election include the controversial farm laws, the Agnipath Scheme, unemployment, and the demand for a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. The Congress party released a 'charge sheet' criticizing the BJP government on issues like unemployment and law and order, while the AAP promised to provide 300 units of free electricity and medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakh.

As the state prepares for the election results, the stakes are high for all major parties involved. Will the BJP secure a historic third consecutive term, or will the Congress and AAP disrupt their momentum?
