Puducherry: INDI Alliance has called for a bandh in Puducherry over the current hike in power tariff and privatisation of power companies by the AINRC- BJP coalition government on Wednesday.
Classes have been suspended for standards 1 to 8 in all government and private schools in the Puducherry region in the wake of the bandh, meanwhile, classes for standards 8 to 12 will be held as usual.
Lok Sabha MP and President of the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee, V Vaithilinga announced on Monday that the bandh will protest the NDA -led government's decision to privatise the distribution of power and hike in power tariff.
Vaithilingam informed that leaders and cadres from the DMK, Communist parties, VCK, and other INDI bloc affiliates will actively participate in the bandh and they will hold a rally on Tuesday to gather public support for the bandh.
