Ayodhya: A total of 15 new train services are expected to begin to and from Ayodhya soon to cater for the surge in devotees post the inauguration of Ram Mandir on Jan 22. While an official confirmation is awaited, the new trains will run daily and terminate at Ayodhya Dham. Besides, Ayodhya Cantt station will serve as the starting point for trains heading to different destinations. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrived in the city on Saturday inaugurated the Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station. He flagged off two Amrit Bharat trains and six new Vande Bharat trains.
Amrit Bharat train routes:
- Darbhanga to Anand Vihar via Ayodhya
- Malda to Bengaluru
The Amrit Bharat Express trains- a new category of superfast passenger trains in the country- were introduced in the country for the first time. The trains will run from Darbhanga in Bihar to Anand Vihar in Delhi via Ayodhya whereas another train will run between Malda Town in West Bengal and Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminus in Bengaluru.

- Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express
- Mangalore-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express
- Coimbatore-Bangalore Cantt Vande Bharat Express
- Jalna-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express
- Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal Vande Bharat Express
Equipped with modern technologies, both Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat trains are considered to be faster and more comfortable as compared to other trains. The Amrit Bharat train is an LHB push-pull train with non-air-conditioned coaches. This train has locos at both ends for better acceleration. It provides improved facilities for rail passengers like beautiful designed seats, better luggage racks, mobile charging point with suitable mobile holders, LED lights, CCTV, public information system, among others.

The minimum fare for travelling on the Amrit Bharat Express trains for a distance of up to 50 kilometres has been fixed at Rs 35 for the second class coach, which is higher as compared to the ticket price of Mail/Express train for the corresponding class. A Mail/Express train offers a journey of up to 1 to 50 km at a cost of Rs 30.
Whereas the minimum fare for the sleeper class for a journey up to 15 kilometres is Rs 46, while for 50 kilometres it is Rs 65. Passengers will have to pay Rs 57 and 91 to cover a distance up to 100km on second class and sleeper class coaches, respectively. Whereas passengers will have to pay Rs 314 and Rs 528 to cover a distance up to 100km on second class and sleeper class coaches, respectively. The minimum fare for journey ranging around 4,951-5,000 kms has been fixed at Rs 933 and Rs 1,469 for second class and sleeper class coaches, respectively.
