New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday, while reply to the ‘Motion of Thanks’ on the President's address in the Lok Sabha, launched a veiled attack on the Opposition, saying that the country saw appeasement politics for a long time, while the government was working to ensure justice to all. PM Modi added that the country was in depths of despair in 2014, people elected us and an era of transformation began. On Tuesday chaos erupted as Prime Minister Modi began addressing the ‘Motion of Thanks’, as the Opposition MPs stormed the Well of the House, prompting Speaker Om Birla to sternly rebuke them.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, PM Modi took a swipe at the Opposition saying, "The country saw appeasement politics for a long time. We followed 'Santushtikaran' not 'Tushtikaran'; justice for all, appeasement to none. The country has witnessed a long history of appeasement and appeasement has destroyed our country.”
Talking about the Lok Sabha elections result, where the Opposition leaders tasted defeat for the third consecutive time, PM Modi said, "I can understand their pain. Despite their lies, they lost in the elections."
In his inaugural speech of this parliamentary session, the Prime Minister celebrated his party and the NDA's victory in what he called "the world's largest democratic exercise". He acknowledged the frustration of some opposition members over their electoral defeat despite efforts to propagate misinformation. "The people's mandate for our third consecutive term is a source of immense pride," he affirmed.
