Srinagar: Residents of the Kashmir Valley are bracing for a series of power shutdowns, as the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) carries out essential construction and maintenance works across multiple regions. The power interruptions, scheduled from October 18 to October 30, is set to impact several key areas as electric grid shutdowns are required for infrastructure upgrades and maintenance, including the installation of electric poles, conductor augmentation, and tree branch cutting.
The power cuts will affect a wide range of regions including Pulwama, Tangmarg, Arampora, Pampore, Gurez, Sonamarg, and others. The KPDCL has issued a detailed schedule for the outages, informing residents of the dates, areas affected, and the expected timing of the cuts. Below are the details broken down by area, date, and reason for the scheduled outages.
Power cuts will generally occur between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some areas experiencing shorter durations, such as Sonamarg and Surfraw, where outages will occur from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Areas and Dates Affected
- Pulwama: Power supply to Pulwama, Tahab, Koil, Pinglena, and Tenghar will be disrupted on October 17, 19, 21, and 23 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Keller, Shadimarg, Moshwara: Power cuts on October 17 and 19 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Tangmarg and Kulhama: Outages will occur on October 21 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Kadlabal and Wagoora: Power outages on October 20 and 22 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Arampora and Panzipora: Scheduled power cuts on October 22 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Bemina, Parimpora, Batmaloo: Power disruptions on October 20 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Reason for Power Cuts
- The outages in Pulwama and nearby areas are due to the construction of the 33KV Pulwama 2nd Circuit.
- Maintenance activities including installation of electric poles and augmentation of conductors will lead to power interruptions in Awantipora, Pampore, and surrounding areas.
- Tree branch cutting and twinning/stabilization of power lines are scheduled in Tangmarg and Arampora regions to ensure smoother power supply.
- Upgrades to grid stations and receiving stations across various regions are being carried out for long-term improvements to the electricity distribution network.
