The devastating landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district have resulted in over 150 deaths and around 200 injuries, with more than 180 people still missing. The landslides, which occurred between 2 am and 4:10 am on Tuesday, have destroyed over 300 homes in the Mundakkai and Chooralmala areas. Rescue efforts are ongoing with the help of the Army, Navy, and NDRF, who are working to find survivors and recover bodies buried under debris.
The central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is closely monitoring the situation and has pledged full support for rescue operations. Local survivors recount harrowing experiences, with many witnessing the destruction of their homes and the loss of loved ones. The Army is also planning to construct a Bailey bridge to facilitate rescue efforts in the severely affected areas.
