'Beginning of Devil's Destruction, Killing of RG Kar's Evil': Doctors After Sandip Ghosh's Arrest
In the latest development in the Kolkata rape-murder case, the CBI arrested Ghosh and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kolkata Police.
Kolkata: Braving rain, Kolkata doctors' continued their protest against Abhaya rape and murder as they remained firm on their demand for justice in what they call an "institutionalized murder."
Calling RG Kar's former prinicipal Sandip Ghosh's arrest a reward for their struggle, the agitating doctors said, "We got a reward for this 35-day struggle of agitation. Today that Sandeep Ghosh has been caught. We said again and again that Sandeep Ghosh is the head of that culture."
In the latest development in the Kolkata rape-murder case on Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Ghosh and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kolkata Police. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of deliberate delays and cover-ups. The CBI's probe has revealed that both Ghosh and the Kolkata Police SHO were allegedly involved in obstructing justice by delaying the investigation and manipulating evidence.
'Getting Close to Justice'
The agitators added," Today the CBI was shown that this murder-rape has involvement of Sandeep Ghosh. We found a positive role towards sister's trial. We are getting close to justice."
Claiming that more people were involved in unfolding of the Kolkata horror, they said, " What happened to our sister was institutionalized murder. If you pull the ears, the head will come. It is not possible for one person, there are more people behind it."
"We were disorientated today before leaving but after coming back from kalighat we regained our direction today. The Durga Puja festival will begin with the slaughter of mahishasur (the devil), it has started today," they added.
The doctors continued with their demand for Kolkata CP Vineet Goel resignation. The doctors who defied court's order to resume duties earlier said they will continue to protest until justice is served, despite rain and storm.
"This is the beginning of devil's destruction and killing of RG Kar's evil," they added.
Another Failed Meeting With CM
The standoff between the doctors and state govt continued following a failed meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after she arrived at the Swasthya Bhawan in the city, the protest site for doctors, on Saturday.
The protesting doctors said that they are forced to continue the movement till they get Abhaya get's justice and they do not understand this politics.
Addressing media, one of the doctors said, "We continued the movement. We are forced to continue the movement. We say we want to discuss. We understand so much politics. We do not understand this politics."
The doctors have long been demanding live streaming of their meeting with the chief minister. As the live-streaming demand was not accepted, the proposed meeting with West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was called off on Saturday as well.
Citing apprehensions over the authenticity o the video, one of the protesters said," How do we know that the video that will be given is not edited? Then hon'ble chief minister came out of her house. We here in heavy rain were standing for two and a half hours. She said come inside and have tea Went? We honored her goodwill ."
