Junior doctors protesting the RG Kar rape case have written to the President on Friday, demanding speedy justice for the victim
Kolkata: Junior doctors protesting the RG Kar rape case have written to the President, Prime Minister, Vice President, and Health Minister on Friday, demanding speedy justice for the Abhaya in the horrific incident. In their letter, the protesting doctors urged the President to ensure the criminals are prosecuted for Abhaya’s murder and rape and are swiftly identified and punished.
"The horrific nature of the crime, the alleged attempts to cover it up, and the ensuing climate of fear have awakened the nation, demanding an impartial investigation and a prompt, fair, and rational trial," the doctors wrote in the letter.
'Reflecting the public's outrage, the people of West Bengal showed solidarity with the victim through movements like ‘Reclaim the Night,’ expressing their demand for justice." stated the letter further.
"In this troubling atmosphere of fear, distrust, and hopelessness, junior doctors in West Bengal have been compelled to avoid working within hospital premises and have adopted alternative ways to fulfill our duty of providing healthcare services to the public," the letter continued.
A delegation of junior doctors has expressed their wish to meet the President, if the president is willing to meet.
