Rudraprayag: At least three people died and one was injured after stones fell from a hill near the Cheerbasa of the Kedarnath Yatra route. According to District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, the disaster control room received reports around 7:30 AM that some pilgrims were trapped under debris due to a landslide and falling stones from the hill.
A rescue team managed to extract three deceased individuals and one injured person from the debris. The injured person received first aid and was admitted to a temporary hospital along the Kedarnath Yatra route for further treatment.
Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the incident in a post on X and said he was in touch with officials.
Rescue and relief efforts are ongoing, with teams from NDRF, DDR, and YMF administration actively searching for any remaining trapped passengers. The pilgrimage route has been slightly altered to ensure safety.
