ED Attaches Assets Worth Rs 21 Crore of RJD MLA, Family
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday said it has attached assets worth more than Rs 21 crore of RJD MLA Kiran Devi, her husband and former legislator Arun Yadav and some linked entities as part of a money laundering investigation.
Forty-six immovable properties located in Agiaon village of Bihar's Bhojpur district and some others located in "posh" areas of Patna as well as bank deposits of Rs 2 crore have been attached after a provisional order was issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The attached properties, worth a total of Rs 21.38 crore, belong to Arun Yadav, Kiran Yadav, Arun Yadav's sons Rajesh Kumar and Dipu Singh and their family-owned company named Kiran Durga Construction Pvt Ltd, the agency said.
Kiran Devi is a sitting MLA of the Lalu Prasad-led Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD), representing the Sandesh constituency in Bhojpur. Arun Yadav represented this seat from 2015 to 2020.

NC Legislature Party to Meet on Thursday to Elect Leader in J-K Assembly
The legislature party of the National Conference will meet on Thursday to elect their leader in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly as party president Farooq Abdullah maintained that his son Omar Abdullah will be the first chief minister of the Union Territory.
The NC on Tuesday emerged as the single largest party with 42 seats as results of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls were declared. The party is comfortably placed to form the government as its alliance with Congress and CPI(M) got 49 seats in the 95-member house.
"The National Conference legislature party will meet tomorrow at half-past 12 to elect their leader," the party vice president said.
Omar Abdullah said the NC legislature party meeting will be followed by a meeting of the alliance partners to elect the leader of the alliance in the House.

Karnataka Cong MLA 'Mastermind' of Valmiki Scam: ED
Karnataka Congress MLA B Nagendra is the "mastermind" behind the multi-crore Valmiki Corporation alleged scam and the funds diverted from this state government entity were also used for a candidate who contested the Lok Sabha polls earlier this year, the ED claimed Wednesday.
The federal agency said it has filed a prosecution complaint or charge sheet in this case sometime ago before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Bengaluru. The court has taken cognisance of the charge sheet, it said.
"B Nagendra, MLA and former Minister for Scheduled Tribal Affairs, has been named as the primary accused and mastermind behind the scam, allegedly orchestrating it with the help of 24 others, including key associates like Satyanarayana Varma, Etakari Satyanarayana, J.G. Padmanabha, Nageshwar Rao, Nekkenti Nagaraj, and Vijay Kumar Gowda," the Enforcement Directorate said in a statement.

The Punjab government on Wednesday appointed senior IAS officer KAP Sinha as the new chief secretary, replacing Anurag Verma, according to an official order.
KAP Sinha is a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre.
He was earlier holding the charge of special chief secretary, revenue, rehabilitation and disaster management, agriculture and farmers' welfare, horticulture, and soil and water conservation.
Anurag Verma, a 1993 batch IAS officer, will now preside over the same array of portfolios as additional chief secretary.
He had assumed the charge of chief secretary on July 1, 2023.

Haryana: Two Independent MLAs Extend Support to BJP
With the BJP set to form its government for the third time in Haryana after winning the polls, two Independent MLAs -- Devender Kadyan and Rajesh Joon -- on Wednesday decided to extend support to the BJP government once it is sworn in.
While Joon was a Congress rebel, Kadyan fought as an Independent after the BJP denied him ticket.
Kadyan fought from the Ganaur constituency in Sonipat and defeated his nearest Congress rival Kuldeep Sharma by a margin of 35,209 votes.
Joon won from the Bahadurgarh seat in the Jhajjar district, defeating his nearest BJP rival Dinesh Kaushik.
Three Independents won the polls -- the other being Savitri Jindal, mother of BJP leader Naveen Jindal, from Hisar.
