Lt Gen DP Singh, SM, was recently promoted and appointed as the Commandant of the Military Intelligence Training School and Depot (MINTSD) in Pune. This promotion became a memorable event when his two daughters, both serving officers in the Indian Army, carried out the ceremonial ‘pipping,’ placing his new rank insignia on his uniform.

The Army Training Command in Shimla shared a post on social media platform X, mentioned the event as a significant reminder of the legacy and strength carried forward by women in the armed forces. “This historic occasion not only reminds the strength, dedication, legacy carried forward by women in uniform but also highlights the spirit of ‘Nari Shakti’ within our Armed forces,” read the post.

The pipping ceremony, a military tradition where new ranks are adorned on an officer’s shoulder, was especially significant with family members involved. Lt Gen Singh’s daughters are part of a growing number of women in the armed forces, reflecting both family legacy and the evolving inclusivity within the Indian military.
