Gondia: A small bridge on the Navegaon-Kohalgaon-Keshori Road in Arjuni Morgaon taluka of Maharashtra's Gondia district, collapsed late Thursday night, leading to traffic diversions on the route. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Authorities were alerted by a passerby, and a team of officials quickly visited the site. Traffic has been rerouted via Khairi-Sukdi village. The exact cause of the collapse remains unclear. The bridge, about fifty years old and constructed using outdated methods, had become weakened over time.
Heavy rains in the past fortnight may have contributed to the collapse, with a small nullah beside the bridge possibly exacerbating the issue. "The bridge caved in likely due to the heavy rains and the additional stress from vehicle movements," Sub Divisional Officer Varunkumar Shahare said.

Deputy Engineer Rajendra Darwade from the Public Works Department added, “The bridge was built using old construction methods, and a proposal for a new bridge has already been sanctioned.”
