Mayawati Re-Elected As Bahujan Samaj Party National President
Mayawati was unanimously re-elected here as the national president of the BSP. Mayawati, 68, is a four-time former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
Lucknow: Mayawati was unanimously re-elected here as the national president of the BSP on Tuesday after she announced that she would not retire from active politics.
The decision was taken during a special meeting of the BSP Central Executive Committee (CEC) and senior office bearers at the national-level and state party units, and representatives from all over the country, the party said.
Mayawati Says No Question of Retirement From Active Politics
In a post on X, Mayawati said, "There is no question of my retirement from active politics. Ever since the party has put forward Akash Anand as the successor of BSP in my absence or dire ill health, the casteist media has been propagating such fake news that people should be cautious."
“I am once again unanimously elected as the National President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and I also thank from my heart all the people who congratulated me from every corner of the country for this,” she added.
Mayawati, 68, is a four-time former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Bahujan Samaj Party founder Kanshi Ram had declared her as his political successor more than two decades ago.
She assured party followers that she is ready to make any sacrifice to advance the humanitarian mission of “great people”, particularly those born in Dalit, Adivasi and OBC communities, through the BSP movement, a party statement said.
Two days ago, Mayawati had taken to social media to announce that her retirement from active politics was "out of question".
