Microsoft Outage: Massive Chaos At Bengaluru Airport As 90% Flights Affected

90 % of flights have been affected in Bengaluru Airport after Microsoft saw disruption in its cloud services. The disruption will continue for the day.

Bengaluru: Nearly 90 per cent of the flights have been disrupted at the Bengaluru Airport after Microsoft reported a disruption in certain cloud services on Friday. The flight disruption has resulted in massive chaos at the airport with many passengers facing inconvenience.   

No respite till Midnight 

Indigo Airlines said that the situation will continue till midnight and the option to rebook/claim is temporarily unavailable.  

"Flights are cancelled due to the cascading effect of the worldwide travel system outage, beyond our control. The option to rebook/claim a refund is temporarily unavailable," Indigo said in a post on X. 

Civil Aviation Minister Statement

Minister Rammohan Naidu said, "I have directed airport authorities and airlines to be compassionate and provide extra seating, water, and food for passengers affected by delays. We understand your concerns and are working tirelessly to ensure your safe and swift travel. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.”

Resolution Forthcoming

On the outage, Microsoft said, “We anticipate a resolution is forthcoming. Aware of the issue affecting Windows devices due to update from third-party software platform.”

Thousands of Windows users worldwide including banks and airlines are experiencing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors, causing their systems to suddenly shut down or restart. Microsoft has identified a recent CrowdStrike update as the cause of this widespread issue.
