Kolkata: After Microsoft reported a disruption in certain cloud services, as many as 25 flights were cancelled in Kolkata that were scheduled for departures and arrivals due to the global IT outage.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport said that 14 departures and 11 arrivals from various airlines were cancelled.
25 Flights Cancelled in Kolkata
The AAI Authorities in Kolkata have issued a passenger advisory on it as well.
"As worldwide systems are impacted due to ongoing IT outage, flight operations are disrupted across the country. This may affect travel & flight schedules. Hence passengers are requested to kindly contact concerned Airlines for updates," the AAI said in a post on X.
Many flights which are operating are delayed because the airlines are issuing boarding passes manually since the automatic system is down.
90% flights disrupted in Bengaluru
Meanwhile, nearly 90 per cent of the flights have been disrupted at the Bengaluru Airport after the global IT outage. The flight disruption has resulted in massive chaos at the airport with many passengers facing inconvenience.
Indigo Airlines said that the situation will continue till midnight and the option to rebook/claim is temporarily unavailable.
"Flights are cancelled due to the cascading effect of the worldwide travel system outage, beyond our control. The option to rebook/claim a refund is temporarily unavailable," Indigo said in a post on X.
Civil Aviation Minister Statement
Minister Rammohan Naidu said, "I have directed airport authorities and airlines to be compassionate and provide extra seating, water, and food for passengers affected by delays. We understand your concerns and are working tirelessly to ensure your safe and swift travel. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.”
Microsoft has said that the underlying cause of the global outage is fixed.
