‘Miracle That I Am Alive’: Passenger Shoots Video After Surviving Train Derailment in Gonda

After the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh train derailed in UP’s Gonda, a video of a passenger, who survived the derailment of the coaches of the train has surfaced.

Gonda: After the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express train derailed on Thursday in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district claiming the lives of at least 2 people, a video of a passenger, who survived the derailment of the coaches of the train has surfaced on social media. In the video, which the passenger shot at the spot near the derailed coaches of the express train was heard saying he escaped the accident narrowly. In the video message, which he shot for his family members informing them about his well-being, he called his survival a miracle.

After the incident, the Gonda district administration and the railway officials rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. Several people are claimed to have been injured in the incident, while hundreds of passengers were trapped. The incident occurred when the Dibrugarh-bound train derailed between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations.

Meanwhile, the passenger who survived the derailment, later posted a video in which he thanked god as he remained safe after the incident.

The survivor, standing beside the four air-conditioned coaches that have come off the tracks, said in the video: "I escaped narrowly. It's a miracle that I am alive. Please don't worry about me. I am safe."

Behind him, other passengers are seen screaming and crying.

Senior railway and local administration officials oversee rescue operations at the accident site. A 40-member medical team and 15 ambulances are at the site.

According to the railway officials, the coaches of the express train were derailed at around 2.35 pm.
