New Delhi: India is keeping a check on imported surveillance devices especially from China, pushing for a pre-emptive measure, in wake of first of its kind pager-walkie talkie blasts in Lebanon.

According to a report by the Economic Times, the government may soon issue a guideline for the locals vendors who are dealing in the surveillance industry.

A government’s policy on the surveillance cameras is likely to come into effect from October 8, aimed at eliminating Chinese players from the market.

The government wants the manufacturing of these surveillance devices to be done on secured locations where it can keep a check, since it engages with the issue of national security.

Pager attacks rocks Lebanon

Several people have been killed while dozens were injured after first of its kind ‘pager attack’ rocked Lebanon a few days ago, leaving people in panic and trauma.

Various media reports hinted at hacking and simultaneous undermining of Hezbollah's encrypted communications network. The injured suffered severed fingers, severe burns, and other blast injuries.

Simultaneous detonations of pager devices had occurred in Lebanon's capital of Beirut and several other cities. Atleast 8 people have died including an MPs son while thousands are injured.

According to the Lebanese health minister, over 2,800 were injured, and 200 of the injured were in critical condition.

The Lebanese government had asked pager owners to dispose them immediately. Lebanon accused Israel's hand behind the attack.
