New Delhi: There has been a respite from the scorching heat and record-breaking high temperatures for residents of North India as the monsoon in India have arrived. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an alert for heavy rain has been issued in numerous states including Delhi NCR, Punjab, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Assam and at least twelve other states. • Orange Alert Issued in Delhi

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Delhi as heavy rainfall is expected in the city today. The weather is expected to remain cloudy for the coming seven days.

• Heavy Rainfall Expected in Parts of Gujarat

The IMD weather forecast also predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in the southern parts of Gujarat; many areas of the state have been experiencing heavy rainfall and schools and colleges have also been closed.

• Possibility of Rain in these Northern States

According to the latest IMD Weather Update, heavy rain is also expected in the northern states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. 

• Situation Grim In Assam

Assam has been facing a flood-like situation and over 11 lakh residents are affected across 23 districts.

• Assam Floods Death Toll

Flood in Assam has so far claimed 38 lives as 3 people died after drowning in flood waters in the last 24 hours.

• Rainfall and Thunderstorm Alert In Mangaluru, Karnataka

Heavy rain in Karnataka's Mangaluru today morning. IMD has issued rainfall and thunderstorm alert for the city till 6th July.

• Rainwater Accumulated On Railway Tracks In UP

Railway authorities used water pumps to drain out the rainwater accumulated on the railway tracks at Moradabad railway station.

• Heavy Rainfall Expected In North-Eastern States

The north-eastern states that are expected to face rainfall today apart from Assam are Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.

• Bridge Washed Away In Assam

A bridge was washed away as water level in Kapili river crosses the danger level amid the Assam Floods.

• Gujarat Floods: Around 30 Villages of Junagarh District Cut-Off from Roads

Around 30 villages in Junagadh district were cut off as roads leading to them got submerged following heavy rains, with Vanthali in the district recording 361 mm rains in the 24-hour period ending Tuesday morning.
