Monsoon: Light Rain Likely in Mumbai, Delhi Today

New Delhi: Over the last few weeks, Delhi and Maharashtra have been experiencing heavy rainfall. However, Mumbai and Delhi are expected to see lighter rain today, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting 'light to moderate rain' for the cities.

U’khand rains: CM Dhami Directs Officials to Identify Sensitive Villages, Relocate Affected People

• Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday directed the officials to immediately identify sensitive villages and relocate the affected people to safer places in view of heavy rains and landslides in Bodh Kedar area of Tehri Garhwal. 
• Cloudbursts in Pauri Garhwal’s Toli, Bodh Kedar, and Tehri Garhwa’s Jakhana and Tingarh on Saturday evening caused massive destruction, officials said.
• In view of the situation, all schools from class 1 to 12 as well as Anganwadi centres in Bhilangana area have been closed till Wednesday, the DM said.

• Traffic congestion and slow vehicular movement were witnessed from Shedung Panvel Bypass to Panvel City following the rain in Maharashtra.

 Kashmir Records Highest July Temperatures in 25 Years Amid Heat Wave

• Kashmir has been reeling under an intense heat wave with several places in the valley recording their highest July temperature in 25 years on Sunday. According to the meteorological office here, Srinagar city recorded a high of 36.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday. This was the hottest July day since July 9, 1999, when the mercury had settled at 37 degrees Celsius. 
• The Met has forecast a spell of rain at isolated places in Kashmir valley over the years next 24 hours, which is expected to bring down the mercury.

Pune Braces for Heavy Rainfall, Orange Alert Issued

• Pune is currently facing heavy rainfall, which has resulted in traffic congestion and waterlogging. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall until July 31. 
• The Pune civic body has relocated around 3,000 citizens to temporary shelters to ensure their safety. In July, Pune recorded the third-highest rainfall, with Shivajinagar receiving 114.1 mm of rain. This marks the city's tenth-highest rainfall on record.

CM Eknath Shinde Reviews Kolhapur Flood Situation

• The Maharashtra Chief Minister reviewed the flood situation in Kohlapur and has advised the district administration to assist citizens with all the necessities. Additionally, the officials have also been asked to coordinate with the Karnataka government on the discharge of water from Almatti Dam in the neighbouring state.

According to reports, the water level of the Panchganga River is expected to Rise as Heavy rain continues in its catchment area.

• In Kolhapur, Maharashtra, around 5,800 people have been rescued to safer areas as the Panchganga River exceeded the danger level, according to officials.

Santacruz Observatory Records 'Trace' Rainfall

• The Santacruz observatory recorded "trace" rainfall between Friday and Saturday morning. The data from the BMC’s automatic weather stations indicated that the island city division and eastern suburbs received an average of 3 mm of rain, while the western suburbs recorded only 2 mm.

Delhi Air Quality Index Today

• The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded in the "satisfactory" category with a reading of 91 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
• An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".

• The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 36 degrees Celsius. The humidity was 78 per cent at 8.30 am.

• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Mumbai today. However, there are no predicted warnings for Monday or the following days. Despite the alert, the city has only experienced light showers. IMD’s Colaba station recording 5mm of rainfall.

• After heavy rainfall throughout the month, Mumbaikars find relief as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'moderate' rainfall weather forecast for Mumbai for the upcoming days, following 2,000 mm of rainfall since the onset of the monsoon.
