MUDA SCAM: Why Karnataka CM Should Be Investigated? Republic Accesses Key Documents
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah is accused of breaking rules to usurp over 38,000 sq feet of land in which he and his family benefitted upto to Rs 53 crore.
Amid the controversy over MUDA scam, Republic TV has done a deep investigation into one of the most glaring cases of illegalities in recent times. These are land scam documents that are also in the court as it now decides whether Siddaramaiah must be investigated after the Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot gave sanction to prosecute him.
A 32-year-old document trail is in our possession that reveals illegalities and a mind boggling paperwork trail that ensured that the Chief Minister’s family benefited.
A farmer was paid off just Rs 5.95 lakhs. The Chief Minister’s family got a sweetheart land deal that is today worth Rs 65 crore.
Files show the series of illegalities, mystery over attempt to forge papers. The new evidence reveal a stunning contradiction to the CM's previous claims of innocence.
The document dates back to 2014 when Siddaramaiah was serving his first term as Chief Minister of Karnataka. It (the document) revealed that Parvathi, the wife of Siddaramaiah, had formally requested the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to allocate a prime property to her.
What documents accessed by Republic TV reveals?
Requested sites erased using whitener
The documents show that the names of the requested sites or prime properties asked by Siddaramaiah’s wife were erased using whitener.
CM Siddaramaiah admitted that the whitener was used but denies wrongdoings and tweeted a ‘torch video’ claiming that the prime land was not mentioned by his wife.
RTI reply confirms ‘Prime Land’ favours CM’s family
The RTI reply said that over 3500 sites were eligible in the same area where Siddaramaiah’s wife had to compensated for the land, however, she was allotted the land in a prime location which was in Mysore's Vijayanagar. This was illegal and never ratified legally.
When this letter was written in 2014, the chief minister was Siddaramaiah, and when finally this RTI document came out, the CM was still Siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah's son Yathindra was present in meeting when land was allotted
Another document that confirms the conflict of interest is that CM Siddaramaiah’s son Yathindra, who was an MLA from Varun constituency in Mysore, was present in the meeting where the decision was taken to allot the land to Siddaramaiah’s wife, in a prime location in 2020.
