Mumbai: An interstate scam involving the purchase of used dump trucks and their subsequent sale after renovation by registering them with the Virar and Vasai RTOs in the nearby Palghar district was foiled by the Mumbai Crime Branch, a police official said on Thursday.
Ten such dumper trucks with expired registration documents that were auctioned for between Rs. 10-15 lakh were confiscated by a Unit IV Crime Branch team.

"The racketeers used to buy these dumpers from Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai as scrap. After repairing them, they would get an NOC for these vehicles from Arunachal Pradesh and register them afresh with Vasai and Virar RTOs. Three persons have been arrested," he said.
