Mumbai: Fire Breaks Out In 30th Floor Flat In Goregaon

A fire broke out in a flat on the 30th floor of a building in Mumbai's Goregoan. In a quick reaction from the fire department, the flames were timely doused.

Mumbai: A fire broke out in a flat on the 30th floor of a building in Mumbai's Goregaon East area on Friday, though no one was hurt in the incident, an official said. The blaze broke out at 7:30 pm in a high-rise near Hub Mall, he added.

"The fire was confined to the 30th floor flat. It was doused by fire brigade personnel at 9pm," the official informed.

In another incident earlier today, a fire broke out in a slum area in suburban Andheri, a civic official said. Fire brigade vehicles rushed to the Bhangarwadi area in Andheri East after being alerted around 8 pm, said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official.

The fire likely started in a godown located in the slum, he said, adding that dousing operations were underway. No casualties have been reported, the official said.

57 fire incidents on Diwali night in Gurugram 

Eight people suffered burn injuries and six vehicles were gutted as 57 fire incidents due to bursting of firecrackers were reported in Gurugram on Diwali night, officials said on Friday. There were no reports of loss of life but property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed in the fires.

Among the injured, five are receiving treatment in civil hospital, while three were referred to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, a senior officer said. While most of the fires were reported from spots with garbage, two houses, a warehouse, a Mother Dairy booth and a salon also reported fires.

In around 30 spots, sparks from firecrackers caused fires in garbage kept nearby, the officer said.

"To control the incidents of arson in time, vehicles were deployed at ten places. There were no casualties in the fire incidents," said Gulshan Kalra, Deputy Director of the fire department.

In Rewari, fire broke out at six places due to from firecrackers on Thursday, including a massive fire at the dumping point at MRF center near BMG Mall. Another massive fire broke out at a shop at Azad Chowk, causing loss of lakhs of rupees, a fire official said.
