Hyderabad: Parts of city are likely to experience disruptions in water supply on June 27, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) announced. The water supply will be disrupted due to repair work on a crucial valve at the Kondapur pumping station, a vital component of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phase-II.
Water Cuts Due to Repair Work
In a statement, the HMWSSB stated that water supply will be completely disrupted in several areas under the jurisdiction of various Operations and Maintenance Divisions. While some localities may witness partial disruptions, others will get water at low pressure.
The areas likely to get affected by water cuts include Chilkalguda, Tarnaka, NPA, BN Reddy Nagar, Mir Alam, Balapur, Maisaram, Vanasthalipuram, Barkas Bhojagutta, Allabanda, Marredpally, Mekalamandi, Bholakpur, Lalapet, Bouddha Nagar, Cantonment, Prakash Nagar, Patigadda, Hasmathpet, Ferozeguda, Shastripuram, Gautam Nagar,Vaishali Nagar,, Autonagar, Alkapuri Colony, Mahendra Hills, Shamshabad Elugutta, Ramantapur, Uppal, Nacharam, Habsiguda, Chilkanagar, Beerappagadda, Budwel, Meerpet, Badangpet and Ramantapur.
The Krishna Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phase-II is a significant infrastructure that supplies water to a major portion of Greater Hyderabad. However, an unexpected issue with the non-return valve (NRV) on the second pump at the Kondapur pumping station has prompted authorities to take the immediate step. As per the HMWSSB, the efforts are on to restore normal water supply as soon as possible.
