PM Modi Arrives in Singapore; Focus to Enhance Bilateral Status
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Changi Airport on a two-day official visit to Singapore, on Wednesday.
Singapore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Changi Airport in Singapore for a two-day official visit to Singapore, on Wednesday. PM Modi is scheduled to meet Singapore PM Lawrence Wong during their stay at the island nation, and will also call on the President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam
PM Modi is also scheduled to meet with business leaders from Singapore.
Schedule of Singapore Visit
Following his Brunei visit, Modi embarked his visit to Singapore. At the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Modi is set to engage in discussions with Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, focusing on trade and investment opportunities.
This visit by PM Modi is his first visit to Singapore in six years. He will also meet with Singaporean President HE Tharman Shanmugaratnam and interact with local business leaders, as noted by the Ministry of External Affairs.
PM Modi to Meet Singapore President
"In Singapore, I will hold talks with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. We are eager to further cement ties in key sectors," tweeted PM Modi.
PM Modi will also meet the leaders of the Singapore’s vibrant business community.
The meeting is also aimed at taking forward to the discussions to deepen India's Strategic Partnership with Singapore, particularly in new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development.
​"Both countries are important partners in our Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Vision. I am confident that my visits would further strengthen our partnership with Brunei, Singapore and the larger ASEAN region," PM Modi said in a statement.
