PM Modi Chairs Cabinet Committee on Security Meet Amid West Asia Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to discuss the outbreak of fresh hostilities in West Asia.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to discuss the outbreak of fresh hostilities in West Asia, officials sources were quoted as saying by news agency PTI. 

According to sources, the West Asia conflict and its impact on trade and supply of petroleum products was discussed in the meeting.

India has voiced deep concern over the escalation of the security situation in West Asia and said the conflict must not take a wider regional dimension.

It has also called for addressing all issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

US In Touch With Israel Over Possible Strikes on Iran's Oil Sites

United States President Joe Biden has said that the White House is in contact with Israel which is mulling possible strikes targeting oil sites in Iran after the October 1 attack in Tel Aviv.

This has led to a spike in oil prices on Thursday.

Biden further added, “We don’t ‘allow’ Israel but advise them.”

 Israel is mulling to target Iran's oil rigs, nuclear sites in response to ballistic missile attack on Tuesday when the latter fired more than 100 rockets towards Tel Aviv, targeting military sites. Iran attacked Israel to avenge the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah who suffocated to death on September 27 attack.

The United States backed Israel and ordered shooting down Iran's missiles which were fired towards Tel Aviv on Tuesday. Several countries including US, UK, France others have extended support to Israel after Iran's attack, saying they are committed towards protecting the country.
