Opposition parties are slated to hold the third meeting of their 26-member I.N.D.I.A coalition in Mumbai on August 25 and 26, said sources. It will be the first time that the opposition gathering will be held in a state where no member of the I.N.D.I.A block is in power.
According to sources cited by news agency PTI, the meeting will be hosted jointly by Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar's NCP faction, with support from Congress.
The Mumbai gathering is said to hold major significance as discussions regarding “seat sharing” are expected to be taken up, sources added.
I.N.D.I.A meetings
The first meeting with several opposition leaders took place in Bihar’s capital Patna by state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U). The second was held in Bengaluru and hosted by the grand old party.

The opposition front seems to be agreeing to the idea of forging an ideological and issue-based alliance against the BJP-led central government ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The opposition meeting is an unprecedented attempt by the leaders to unite against what they claim is the rise of “authoritarianism, the political takeover of institutions, the abuse of central investigation agencies against opposition leaders, as well as problems like rising prices, corruption, and unemployment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
