Bengaluru: The BJP on Tuesday hailed the Karnataka High Court's verdict upholding the governor's prosecution nod against Congress leader and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in MUDA scam case, saying It welcomed the court's decision.

Accusing the CM Siddaramaiah of grabbing the land meant for poor,   BJP demanded his immediate resignation from the top pots.

In a post of X, the BJP wrote, “It is welcome that the High Court has given permission for the prosecution against the CM @siddaramaiah who had illegally grabbed the Dalits' land and made the sites that should have belonged to the poor in his name.”

The saffron party also accused the grand-old party to stooping to "low-level politics to cover up their universe of corruption."

Congress leaders resorted to low-level politics over dignified governors to cover up their universe of corruption. But the court upheld the Governor's move and reiterated that corruption has no place in India,” Karnataka BJP tweeted in Kannada.

“If Siddaramaiah has any respect for the law of this land, for the constitution, for the court, he should not continue his corruption and bow down to the court's decision and resign from the post of CM immediately,” the tweet further read.

Reacting to Court verdict, state BJP President BY Vijayendra said "BJP has been relentlessly fighting against the corrupt Congress government." He criticised the Congress for accusing the BJP of hatching a political conspiracy in the state.

" BJP has been relentlessly fighting against the corrupt Congress government...But they said that BJP is doing a political conspiracy against us...The HC in its judgement has clearly said that the decision taken by the Governor is correct. Accepting this decision the CM should resign immediately..." Vijayendra said.

‘Resign Immediately on Moral Grounds’

Meanwhile,   BJP MP Jagadish Shettar asked the CM to resign on moral grounds. Calling the verdict a landmark decision, Shettar said, "..Now impartial investigation has to be started after filing the FIR against the CM. When his name is involved, his wife's name is there, I insist the CM to resign immediately on moral grounds. He has to allow an impartial investigation of MUDA scam...It is a landmark decision and it has been pronounced by the High Court as per the legal purview."

‘Law is Same for Everyone’: BJP 's CT Ravi

BJP leader CT Ravi suggested the CM to resign to save “your dignity...”. Ravi said, "We welcome this. Law is the same for everyone. Is there a separate law for Siddaramaiah? This does not happen in this country. Constitution is the same for everyone. Corruption has taken place...He should resign...Is corruption politically motivated? Did we tell him to do corruption?... Did Opposition tell him to do that? We didn't tell him to do that...They did that and now they are accusing the BJP. I would like to give them one suggestion, resign to save your dignity..."

While Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that BJP has no desire of toppling the Karnataka government and called for an impartial probe by the CBI into the alleged scam.

Joshi said, "It is a slap on the Congress government and CM Siddaramaiah. The Karnataka High Court has answered all the questions that were raised. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah should resign and an impartial investigation should be conducted by the CBI... BJP has no desire of toppling the Karnataka government..."

Karnataka High Court Dismisses Siddaramaiah's Plea

In a major setback for Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka HC on Tuesday dismissed his petition challenging Governor's nod for investigation against him in a site allotment case. The CM had challenged the approval given by the Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for an investigation against him in the alleged irregularities in the allotment of 14 sites to his wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in a prime locality. The verdict was pronounced by a single judge bench of Justice M Nagaprasanna.
