Rachel Reeves, becomes Britain's 1st woman finance minister. Reeves, 45 became chancellor of the exchequer post her centre-left Labour party won UK elections.

London: Britain's first woman finance minister Rachel Reeves, Bank of England economist has pledged to extend the nation' s economy while displaying strong fiscal discipline. 

Earlier on Thursday, Reeves, 45 became chancellor of the exchequer post her centre-left Labour party won UK general election by a huge margin putting an end to 14 year of rule by the right-wing Conservatives.

After her appointment by new Prime Minister Keir Starmer, she wrote on social media platform X, ""It is the honour of my life to have been appointed chancellor of the exchequer,"
