Chennai: Heavy rain accompanied with strong winds lashed parts of city on Saturday morning, disrupting flight services. The city has ben receiving rain since night.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more showers for the city in the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle at 37 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In its forcast for today, the IMD stated, “Rain or thundershowers would occur towards evening or night” in Chennai. The maximum and minimum temperatures during the day are predicted to be 37 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.

IMD Predicts More Rain

As per IMD update, the city will witness partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm over next two days.

The region may experience light rain acompanied with thunderstorm from July 9 to July 11. Over the next five days, the temperature is predicted to hover around in the range of 38 to 27 degrees Celsius.

The weather bulletin dated July 6 states that wet spell is likely in “Isolated places over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Theni districts of Tamilnadu and Puducherry.” 

Yellow Alert in Tamil Nadu for Today

The Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert in the state for heavy showers today.
