Chennai: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths on Thursday raided several locations in Tamil Nadu in connection with the Ramalingam murder case.
A functionary of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), K Ramalingam (48) was hacked to death in Thanjavur in 2019.
Earlier in May this year, the NIA had released the names of suspects in the case. They had stuck wall posters containing photos and details of five suspects in the case in Coimbatore. The NIA officials also announced a cash reward of Rs 25 lakh for any information about the suspects, who are members of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).
The suspects who were named in the posters included H Mohammad Ali Jinnah (34) of Thirubhuvanm; M Abdul Majith (37) of Kumbakonam; M Bhurkhanudeen (28) of Papanasam, T Shahul Hammed (27) of Thanjavur, and R Nafeel Hassan (27) of Thanjavur.
The probe agency had already filed a chargesheet against at least 19 suspects in connection with the case.
Hailing from Kumbakonam, Ramalingam was the Tirubhuvanam town secretary of the PMK. He was murdered by a gang on February 5, 2019, after he allegedly interfered in their religious propagation activities.
