As Albus Dumbledore said, "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." Nowadays, we often hear news about animal abuse, people harassing stray animals, shooing them away, or killing them, but there is always a ray of hope amidst the darkness.
And this light was turned on by a legendary place in Mumbai, the Taj Mahal Hotel located in South Bombay, and it shows a furry friend sleeping peacefully at the entrance of this lavish five-star hotel. And no one in the hotel disturbs them when they take a walk or sleep. The staff has given them a space to sleep on a sunny day without any disturbance.
This incident was shared by HR professional Dr. Rubi Khan (Phd) on her LinkedIn account during her stay at the Taj Mahal Hotel when she spotted a stray dog sleeping on the entrance.
"Strict instructions from Ratan Tata to treat animals well."
She wrote, “This is the entrance of the Taj Mahal Hotel, one of the most luxurious and finest hotels in the country. During my stay, as I started my day, I noticed a living being sleeping peacefully in the same spot, seemingly carefree. My curiosity led me to ask the hotel staff about him, and I learned that he has been a part of the hotel since birth. There are strict instructions from Mr. Ratan Tata to treat these animals well if they enter the premises.”
She shared the photo of the furry friend and also praised the Tata Group and the man, Mr. Ratan Tata. She said, “You can be the most successful entrepreneur, but that should never stop you from respecting and embracing everyone. It's about believing in oneself and living that belief every day. This also brought to mind the debate on adopting versus buying pets. What this scenario taught me is that it’s a personal choice, and one should not be judged for it. Ultimately, it’s about doing what you believe in and contributing towards the cause.”
The users under the post also praised the step and shared their reactions to it.
“Such a heartwarming post! It's amazing to hear about the empathy, compassion and inclusion shown by Taj Hotels. I wish more and more people would take inspiration from this and do their part in ensuring inclusion of all living beings.”
One of the former employees of Tata Group said, “During my days with Tata Motors , the highlight of entering the Bombay House office was always the friendly wags and warm welcomes by the whole four-legged troupe! And the guards didn't limit their love only to dogs, I once brought in a rescue kitten and once an injured raven...and both times, the security team was super attentive and helpful - no questions asked!
And it's one of my key takeaways from being a part of this amazing legacy called the Tata Group - having your heart in the right place.”
“Many years ago I saw cats slinking in and out of the kitchens at Taj Mansingh. It did not give me any sense of comfort.”
“Sir Ratan Tata is the greatest example for how you can be successful businessman yet do great initiatives for society and make this earth a better place to live.. This also reflects how leaders drive the culture in company which reflects empathy and kindness.”
“There are no words to express Mr. Ratan Tata's persona... no one to compare with this humble soul. God Bless him.”
