Relying on Google Maps, Youths Drive Car Into Flooded River in Kerala | VIDEO
Two youths, who were on their way to a hospital using Google Maps, reportedly drove their car into a swollen river in Kerala’s northernmost Kasaragod district.

Kasaragod: Extreme reliance on Google Maps landed two youths in Kerala into deep trouble as they drove their car into a flooded river risking their lives. The two youths, who were on their way to a hospital using Google Maps, reportedly drove their car into a swollen river. However, they had a miraculous escape as their car got stuck to a tree eventually saving them from being swept away in Kerala’s northernmost Kasaragod district.
Several videos of the incident also surfaced on social media, wherein the car can be seen stuck in the middle of an overflowing river, while the fire fighters and other concerned authorities were making efforts to rescue the youths. According to the information, the two victims stuck in the car were safely rescued by the rescue team in the Pallanchi river on Saturday following which the videos went viral the other day.
Both Youths Were Rescued by Fire Department Personnel
After the rescue, the two youths, identified as M Abdul Rashid (35) and A Thashreef (36), stated that they were on their way to a hospital in neighbouring Karnataka in the wee hours on Saturday being guided by Google Maps. Abdul Rasheed said that Google Maps showed a narrow road and they drove their car through it.
Rasheed asserted that while driving through, he felt that the road was submerged in rainwater after heavy downpour. They missed the small bridge, with no side walls, connecting the two sides of the river and drove their car into the flooded river.

They realised it, after their car suddenly began to get carried away in the water currents. However fortunately the car later got stuck in a tree on the shores of the river. The two youths somehow managed to open the door of the car and come out of the vehicle.
Later, they passed a message to the local police and the fire personnel, who rushed to the spot and pulled out the two men to safety using ropes.
