Kolkata/New Delhi: Amid the ongoing investigation into the Kolkata rape and murder case, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya has highlighted shocking revelations from the CBI. These findings suggest a 'deliberate effort by Mamata Banerjee’s administration to obscure the truth and protect key individuals', including high-ranking political figures within her close circle. For the unversed, the 31-year-old trainee doctor was found dead with multiple injuries on August 9.

"The efforts to subvert justice through destruction of evidence by Mamata Banerjee’s administration and her minions, have rendered the investigation an increasingly arduous undertaking for the CBI, despite its stature as one of the most adept investigative bodies in the nation. This nexus of power and corruption exposes Mamata Banerjee and her so-called police as vanguards of injustice, turning Bengal into a haven for the corrupt. With each passing day, Bengal's proud legacy is suffocating under Mamata Bannerjee’s ‘Jangalraj,’ where truth is sacrificed for political gain", Malviya added.

CBI’s Startling Revelations

1. Evidence Tampering and Procedural Lapses Raise Serious Concerns

Taking to X, the BJP IT cell shared, "The deliberate tampering of key evidence is becoming undeniable with noted procedural lapses in conducting postmortem, grossly expedited and flawed videography of the autopsy and omission of critical details concerning the injuries on the victim's body."

2. Discrepancies and Delays

"Further complicating the case are glaring discrepancies in the testimonies of those present at the scene on that night when the crime transpired. The CBI is yet to ascertain how the arrested suspect was informed of the victim's presence in the seminar room and whether the suspicious 40-minute delay, between the discovery of the deceased and the police notification, was part of a broader cover-up", Malviya said.

3. Hurry to Cremate The Body

"It is baffling to fathom the hurry to cremate the body - obviously a second post-mortem was consciously being avoided", wrote Malviya on X. Earlier, the victim's father had also flagged the same issue. "There were three bodies at the crematorium, but our daughter's body was cremated first. The Chief Minister is talking about providing justice, but attempts are being…not satisfied with Mamata Banerjee and have refused to take any compensation," the victim's father stated.

Earlier, the National Commission for Women (NCW) Inquiry Committee had identified lapses in security, infrastructure, and investigation concerning the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata last week.  The NCW had alleged that the site (RG Kar Medical College) in Kolkata where the post-graduate trainee doctor was reportedly raped and murdered was abruptly renovated, raising concerns about evidence tampering.

NCW Panel Reveals 5 Major Lapses in Kolkata Rape-Murder

  • Inadequate Security: No security guards were present during the incident, and there was insufficient security coverage for on-call duty interns, doctors, and nurses during night shifts.
  • Poor Facilities: The hospital lacks basic amenities for female doctors and nurses, with washrooms in poor condition, no security measures, and inadequate lighting.
  • Incomplete Investigation: The questioning of the former Principal, who resigned after the incident, remains incomplete. The Inquiry Committee urges a thorough and expedited investigation.
  • Lack of Protection: There is no adequate protection or safety for on-call female duty interns, nurses, and female doctors.
  • Evidence Tampering: The site where the deceased was allegedly raped and murdered is undergoing sudden renovations, potentially leading to tampering with evidence. The crime scene should have been sealed immediately by the police.

Healthcare Services Across Bengal Hit

Meanwhile, healthcare services remained affected at state-run hospitals in West Bengal on Monday as junior doctors continued their cease-work protest. Heavy rush was seen at the out-patient departments on the first day of the week with senior doctors substituting for their juniors to handle the situation.

"This protest is for seeking justice for a female doctor who faced brutality while treating patients for 36 hours at a stretch. It is the 11th day that her body was discovered, but where is the justice? We will continue this stir until we get justice for our sister," said an agitating doctor at the RG Kar MCH.

The postgraduate trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered while on duty at the RG Kar MCH on August 9. Amid outrage over the incident, medics across the country have been protesting seeking justice for the victim and legislation for better security at the workplace.
