Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Ambadas Danve Suspended From Legislative Council For His Abusive Marks

Mumbai: Ambadas Danve of Shiv Sena (UBT) has been suspended from the Maharashtra Legislative Council for five days following a heated argument with BJP's Prasad Lad, who accused Danve of using abusive remarks against him. The suspension came a day after a significant uproar in the Legislative Council. In response, Uddhav Thackeray has expressed his support for Danve.

In his statement, Uddhav Thackeray said, “Tell me what wrong did he say? Where did he insult (Hinduism)?  He was not allowed to show the picture of Lord Shiva, is this Hindutva? We also raise slogans of Jai Shri Ram. The Prime Minister openly says Jai Shri Ram in election rallies. But if someone other than BJP says it in the Parliament, is it a crime?” 

Uddhav on Rahul's speech in Parliament 

Reacting on Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Parliament, Thackeray said, “ I do not believe that Rahul Gandhi insulted Hindutva yesterday. He said in clear words that BJP does not mean Hindutva. We are also Hindus and none of us will insult Hindutva and will not tolerate insult to Hindutva, and Rahul ji is also included in that. BJP does not mean Hindutva, our Hindutva is sacred...”

Prasad Lad demands Danve's resignation 

Demanding Ambadas Danve's resignation, Prasad Lad said, "I demand the resignation of LoP Ambadas Danve as he used abusive words aimed at my mother and sister yesterday. I have spoken to the CM and DCM about this incident. Uddhav Thackeray should also ask his leader about this incident. I request the government to take action against Ambadas Danve." 

What happened in the Maharashtra Legislative Council? 

The argument between the two politicians started when Lad insisted on passing a resolution in the Maharashtra Legislative Council against Rahul Gandhi for making a statement on Hindus in the Parliament. 

However, Ambadas Danve, LoP argued against it and said that it is not their subject and the same is being discussed in the Parliament. "We should focus on our discussions," Danve reasoned. Lad along with the MLCs from the ruling Mahayuti coalition objected and started questioning Ambadas Danve. "Aren't you a Hindu?" the Mahayuti MLCs asked Danve, continuously pointing fingers at him and demanding an answer.
