Tamil Nadu Horror: Trichy Doctor Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Minor Girls at Hostel

Chennai: A 31-year-old doctor was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting minor girls at a hostel affiliated with a government-aided school in Trichy in Tamil Nadu. The accused doctor has been identified as S Samson Daniel. 

He was booked under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. According to sources, the accused's mother, who is the headmistress of the school, is accused of connivance with him in covering up the issues.

The accused headmistress, S. Grace Sagayarani (54) was also arrested for allegedly helping to cover up the offences. 

Accused Sent to 3-Day Judicial Custody

Both the accused have been three-day judicial custody. 

Hailing From Trichy's Palakkarai , Daniel was employed at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Anbil near Lalgudi. According to media reports, Daniel frequently visited the hostel on the pretext of conducting health checkups. Reports suggested that during these visits, he inappropriately touched girls aged between five and ten. The abuse was reported to the childline helpline, 1098, by a concerned parent.

Following the complaint, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Rahul Gandhi, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Vijayalakshmi, and two social workers visited the hostel on 2 August 2024 and talked with 42 children, who then revealed that Daniel had been assaulting them during his health checkups over the past few months.
