The Indian government is investigating the involvement of Telegram in the recent NEET-UG paper leak, according to sources who spoke with Republic. The probe comes in the wake of claims that the popular messaging platform was used to distribute leaked exam papers.

Following a statement made by the Education Minister during the crisis, the Ministry of Education filed a complaint with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY). This complaint addressed concerns about the link between the NEET-UG paper leak and the use of the dark web. "Following the statement by the Minister during the crisis, there's a complaint we had made to the MEITY on the connection between the NEET-UG paper leak and the use of dark web," sources from the Ministry of Education revealed.

Complaint has also been forwarded to MHA

The complaint was also believed to have been forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Agencies are currently investigating the matter. Telegram, as one of the platforms where the leaked papers were reportedly distributed, is under scrutiny. "Telegram was one platform on which papers were distributed, and so obviously it would be looked into," the sources added.

Despite the ongoing investigation, the precise status of the inquiry remains unclear. The investigation aims to determine the extent of Telegram's involvement in the leak and whether any further action is required.
