Madhubani: In another incident of bridge collapse in Bihar, an under construction bridge was washed away in a river on Friday in Madhubani district of the state, marking fifth such incident in less than 2 weeks. The incident reportedly occurred in Madhepur block, which comes under Madhubani district of Bihar. After the incident, a probe has been ordered by the district administration to ascertain the cause of the incident.
According to the reports, the bridge was being constructed on the Bhootiya River under Madhepur block in Madhubani. It is being said that a strong water current due heavy downpour in the region led to the collapsing of the bridge.
No reports of any injury or casualty have surfaced in the incident.
The collapsing bridges appear to have become a non-ending tragedy in Bihar, the state which has been witnessing a series of incidents of bridge collapse one after the other in the past couple of days. With the latest incident in Madhubani, Bihar witnessed 5 such incidents of bridge collapse in less than two weeks.
Earlier, on Thursday, a bridge collapsed in Kishanganj district of Bihar. The 70 metres long bridge, which was located in Bahadurganj block of Kishanganj district, collapsed after one of the pillars of the bridge got washed away in the strong current. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Prior to the incident in Kishanganj, three similar incidents of bridge collapse had been reported from districts including Araria and Siwan. In the last few years, many similar incidents have happened in different parts of the state but no one has been injured.
