Shocking Video: Couple Tied With Electric Pole Assaulted Brutally in UP's Kushinagar

Kushinagar (U.P.): A shocking video surfaced on social media said to be from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, where a young couple was subjected to brutal punishment by villagers after they were caught together. 

The couple, a 20-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl, were caught engaged in a romantic act outside the village. In a display of vigilantism, the villagers took matters into their own hands, tying the couple to an electric pole and subjecting them to a severe beating at the village Chaupal.

The assault was particularly egregious, with the girl's hair being forcibly cut after tying her to the electric pole with physical assault on her.

The incident came to light when a video of the assault surfaced on Wednesday. Following the public outcry and media attention, the police intervened, registering an FIR on behalf of the girl's mother and arresting the accused individuals involved in the violence. 

Investigations revealed that the couple belonged to the same community and hailed from the same village. Their relationship, however, had met with disapproval from the villagers, leading to their decision to elope a few days prior.

The girl had reportedly played a major role in securing the boy's release from jail by providing a statement in his defense. Despite their efforts to escape the social pressures, the couple's fate was tragically sealed by the violent actions of the villagers. 

The incident has raised serious concerns about the prevalence of vigilantism and the need for stricter measures to protect individuals from such barbaric acts.

Kushinagar police officials have released a video statement stating how the couple was secured from the villagers and further investigation is being probed.
