New Delhi: Rain on Friday, June 28, triggered a landslide in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla blocking roads several cars, and other vehicles stuck in debris. This heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Northern India bringing respite from the scorching heat.

Visuals surfaced showing cars and bikes stuck in debris.

This comes as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) earlier this week issued an 'orange' alert for rainfall in five districts of Himachal Pradesh till June 30. In its weather bulletin, the weather department said that the affected areas include Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, and Bilaspur, while issuing a yellow alert for the remaining districts of the state during the same period.

The forecast agency predicted that the monsoon will advance across the state in the next three days, with rainfall expected between June 26 and July 1.

Sandeep Kumar Sharma, the senior scientist at IMD HP, said, "Between the dates of June 28 to July 1, the plain areas of Una, Bilaspur and Hamirpur and Midhills area of the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Solan Shimla, Sirmaur, Kullu and Mandi and higher reaches of Kinnaur mist of the places will get rainfall and there is the possibility of rainfall and in these areas, one two places will get yellow alert and for 29th and 30th, we have issued an orange alert of rainfall in Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Bilaspur districts of the state.

He further added, "The monsoon may arrive in Himachal Pradesh in three to four days, the monsoon will be normal and more than normal this year in the state."

Monsoon has finally arrived in Delhi after the long and severe heat spell in northern India.

In an official statement by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD, it stated that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into the entire Delhi region.

"The Northern Limit of Monsoon passes through 26 °N/65 °E, Jaisalmer, Churu, Bhiwani, Delhi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Kheri, Moradabad, Dehradun, Una, Pathankot, Jammu, 33 °N/74 °E," it added.
