VIDEO: Sinkhole Swallows Truck As Pune Road Caves In Within Seconds

Pune: In Pune, a truck belonging to the Civic sanitation department on Friday fell upside down into a pit after the cemented road suddenly caved in on the premises of the City Post Office on Friday afternoon. The entire incident was captured on CCTV installed nearby, wherein, it can be clearly seen that the truck got swallowed in the pit after the path caved in from behind.

According to the official sources, the incident took place at around 4 pm in the densely-populated Budhwar Peth locality. Fortunately, the driver of the truck escaped from the truck unhurt timely.

A fire brigade official stated that the driver of the jetting machine truck of the Pune Civic Sanitation Department, which used to clean drainage lines, escaped unhurt.

It is being claimed that underground work of the Pune Metro is undergoing in the Budhwar Peth area. However, the reason for the caving in of the road was yet to be ascertained.

A few videos also surfaced on social media capturing the moment, when the truck slid into the pit from its rear end after the ground, paved with interlocking cement blocks, caved in.

Efforts to pull out the truck were underway.
