Tamil Nadu: Massive rains have unleashed chaos in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, prompting authorities to issue a red alert for four districts, including Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, and Tenkasi.

The inclement weather has been attributed to a cyclonic circulation, which was previously situated over the equatorial Indian Ocean and the southwest of the Bay of Bengal. It has now moved to the Comorin area, positioned about 5.8 km above sea level.

Residents of the affected districts have witnessed alarming scenes of waterlogging and a flood-like situation.

Red alert issued

In response to the challenging weather conditions, authorities have declared a red alert, signaling imminent danger, and have decided to shut down schools and colleges in the four affected districts tomorrow. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of students and faculty in the wake of the adverse weather conditions.

As the cyclonic circulation continues to influence the weather patterns in the region, residents are urged to exercise caution and stay informed about updates from local authorities. The deployment of emergency response teams and relief efforts may be initiated to address the impact of the heavy rains and mitigate potential risks to the affected communities.
